1. A method of evaluating an earth formation having a plurality of layers, the method comprising:
(a) conveying a logging tool into a borehole in said formation;
(b) obtaining a plurality of multi-component induction resistivity measurements using the logging tool; and
(c) using an objective function of the plurality of multi-component measurements for determining a distance of the logging tool to an interface in the earth formation;
wherein said plurality of multi-component measurements include directionally sensitive measurements.
