1. A method for treating beta-thalassaemia, comprising administering to a subject in need of treatment an effective amount
of angelicin, represented by formula (1):
 or a structural analogue thereof,
wherein the structural analogue is selected from the group consisting of an acylangelicin, an alkylangelicin, an alkoxycarbamoylangelicin
and bergapten.
